A female reader, Quinell New Zealand +, writes (18 October 2010):

I had that a couple of times when I first started to shave/wax the pubic area. What happened was when the hair re-grew it grew within the skin causing a ingrown hair. That ingrown hair irritates the skin which can cause a pimple, even the rubbing of your underwear can cause this. However once I manage to get the ingrown hair out with a tweezers I found relief. Now I have no problems. Another time I had that problem or experience was not through removing pubic hair but simply playing sports. Constant dampness from sweat even through not drying properly after a shower. Make sure the Vagina is dry! Wear loose underwear when you have a pubic pimple (less irritation). Hope this helps.

Sunystar1 agony auntI had a friend who was dealing with this. She said that she would get a sore right around the time of her "gift of the month." I never had acne to much growing up, but right before the start of my period, I would get 1 or 2 hard knots on my chin. Its just that hormones can cause weird things to happen. You may also have an ingrown hair folicle. Try to pluck that area and see if it helps. And it is possible to have acne in that area. As long as you are a virgin and don't share clothes, it is just probably a glitch of the system. With your age range, it seems to make sense that your body is still changing and we all know puberty and after are some hard times. Another good thing is to watch your diet, take vitamins, and depending on where it is located, like creases, try different cut and cotton panties. Or none at all. If it is close to where the hairline stops (the lil bumps right around the vuvla area) it is probably just some irritation. Use mild soaps and none of the smell good stuff down there, like pads or tampons. I find it best to clean very well everyday and stay as natural as possible (as far as perfumes and powders and douches.) A womans vagina was designed to clean herself once a month. Its not pleasent for us but its part of the natural process. I have told my friends to avoid using feminie products at night. The woman in the old days had rags (hence where the term of being on the rag came from.) They would place cotton material to catch the flow then clean them out in buckets, rewash to use again. Woman in those days did not have endometreosis. When we put stuff up in us and around us with fibers, we disturb our vagina's. There is a acid and alkaline chemistry and when women get yeast infections, its the bacteria in a pissy mood from something trying to rebalance itself. Yogurt is a good way to keep that in line. One other thing....they say you can get herpes and warts from clothes and toilets. Herpes are blisters and if they have popped and left behind fluid, it can infect others. When I was in my teens, I had a friend who found out she had warts down there and she was a virgin. She had been at a house where she new there was alot of "activity" and used the bathroom, seat to seat. That was the only thing she could think of. Just research it on google and you will feel better. If you are worried, see an ObGYN. They can give you peace of mind. Good luck

person12345 agony auntI know it sounds gross, but it's actually fairly common to get zits on your genitalia. You can prevent them by washing daily with a non-scented gentle soap and by wearing clean breathable underwear.
