reader, anonymous, writes (29 May 2008): well...alot of these dating sitrs are really african boiler rooms! they post pictures of attractive women, build a relationship with a 'mark', then say something like "honey my dad is in the hospital i jest need $500 please send to me baby..." i know it sucks. so are the chat rooms, full of phoney ads for ...you guessed it...online dating sites. alot of times they just dont check their mail, or are not active...i would research which sites actually have some level of discrimination, and verify if the people are real. good luck.

You havent really been messaging long enough to get worried yet!
It may just be that you havent found the right person out there.
Keep your messages short, even just 'Hi, how are you?' will break the ice.
