What can I do about my ex drinking all the time?

So I have this ex, we dated for a year and then broke up. He hooked up with some girl and now we are best friends. We wanna get back together but just not yet, right now he moved back into his mom's because he wants to get his life straight due to the fact that he drank to much. But yet he is still going out and drinking all the time.. what do I do? His mom and him want me to help him but he won't listen to me..
