Question - (6 May 2009) 2 Answers - (Newest, 6 May 2009)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

There is this guy that I really like. He acts like he likes me, but he is shy. I keep telling myself he doesn't like me and I've been trying to get over him and forget about him. He is about 6'0 tall and he is average build. He's not chubby at all, but he's not rail thin either. He has light brown hair and brown eyes with light skin. I have reddish blond hair and blue eyes with light skin. He's really quiet and shy. He keeps to himself most of the time. We both love sports. I'm also really quiet and shy. I'm always told I'm so nice and smart. I also get told I'm so pretty all the time, but I think they are just being nice. The problem that I think is brought about is the fact that I am 5'7 tall and not skinny. I'm more than just chubby or curvy too. I've been like this my whole life. I watch what I eat and I've played basketball since I was 10 years old. I've gone to the doctor for it too. I just have never been able to loose weight. I've always been told that a guy like him would never like a girl like me. When I tell even my own family about him they tell me to find someone else because it's hopeless. I've read other posts on here about this subject and most guys are like they would never date a girl that was bigger than they were. My friend is about the same size as me maybe bigger. She had a boyfriend that was way skinnier that she is. He was like a stick, but he was really mean and rude to her at times. I've liked guys in the past, but I always tell myself that there is no chance and to let it go. So I do let it go. I tried that with him, but I've notice him acting nervous around me and he is too scared to talk to me. Even when he needs something. He seems to have told his friends about me as well. I noticed it because I've never had a guy act like this around me before in my life. People always say that opposites attract, but I'm not sure. I want the truth. I'm just wondering if a guy that was really sweet. nice, and an average size would ever date me? Is it possible that he could like me even with our physical differences?

I think so, it's definitely possible. I think you should just act normal and just treat him like you would any other friend, if he likes you, he'll make some kind of move like asking you to hang out or something, but if you want to take matters into your own hands, just ask him if he would like to help you practice for basketball or maybe a sport that he's into, since you both like sports. I think you'll be able to tell by his facial reaction when you ask him, whether he's interested or not. And if he's not, don't even worry about it, there are plenty of other people out there that you will meet that will be interested in you. And also, a lot of guys like a girl that plays a sport, so that is definitely something you have going for yourself. Don't ever put yourself down, instead of wondering if a guy likes you, have the mindset that you are looking for a guy that is worth having you. Hope that helps

Dont worry about what you look like!!! Cliche, but its whats on the inside that counts.

Some people care more about apperance than others, yes - but that would be because they are shallow. If you like each other something could come about so see what happens:)
