We will be living together (with other friends) from next year, so should we take the risk and get together now, or play it safe?

A male United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

Hey,

So, I've (18 yr old guy) come out of a 3-and-a-half year relationship at the end of January, and I've recently started having feelings for another girl, with whom I have been very close friends with for several months. Everyone, even my ex, suspected something may have been happening between us, but nothing ever happened, and neither did I ever want anything to happen, apart from in the last couple of weeks. However, the problem is that we have already agreed to live with each other next year with four other friends. We have talked and we both like each other, but we are worried that if we do get together, then we split on unpleasant terms, it will make next year very awkward, especially for the rest of the group. So, my question is: should we go for it now, and risk the consequences, or should we not act, and just stay friends? Also, is two months long enough to go into another relationship? I want to remain close friends with my ex and really do not want to hurt her.

Thanks! :)
