Want to date, but his best friend is complicating things. Should we not just sit down and talk to his friend?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Recently a friend of mine told me he liked me, and I feel the same way, we both want to take it further. However, his best friend has liked me for quite awhile but I have no feelings for him. The bad thing is, the first boy doesn't want to upset his friend so suggested we just stay mates. But then he confused me again last night by saying 'just give it time' before we go out with each other...maybe to let his friend get over me? Is it for the best that we don't get together so as not to break up their friendship? It seems so unfair. Does it sound like he really does want to get with me if he's willing to wait to get with me? Should we not just sit down and talk to his friend?

Personally for you...go for this lad you like but on your bfs side of things..tell him what he values more his mate or you. Probably his mate. Get his mate looking for someone else?
