After that first date when he said the he liked you it was up to you to make the next move. By waiting the extra 6 hours you have told him that your life or anything else for that matter is more important to you than he is.
He now probaly thinks the you have better people to see and better thing to do than be with him.
I think you should try to fix this mismessage asap
