I'm in the same situation as well, and my boyfriend is the type to not care for gifts but i love to give and put my thoughts in my gifts. but i'm broke most of the time lol he accepts little things from me like cards and candy. so this year for his birthday, i custom made some M&Ms for him wishing him a happy birthday and it has his name on 'em. it was cheap and he love 'em so find out something he likes and see if you can get it without spending too much. go to the mall and see if there is anything on sale lol my guy likes when i wear lingeries so i found a couple on sale for only $5 sorry if i'm not giving great advice but that's my suggestions

Ometeotl agony auntRomance costs nothing, that is if you know how. I believe deep down inside of everyone is the ability to love and show romance, some better than others. You could always get that movie to rent that you know you will never get around to. Cook a romantic dinner(italian food)with candles. You could do a nice walk around. Play a board game against each other. Competition between two lovers is quit fun. It build climax. Just keep in mind to make him happy at the same time as yourself, no point in trying to go that extra mile when you can't.
