writes:I dont know what to do, I'm really shy, I never had a real boyfriend, and if I did like someone that was boyfriend material I would be too shy to talk to him and he woud get away. I'm stuck in that same senere again. It's a guy he is new to the school our school is like a private school and I would say I'm always with a crowd and he's not. So it's like tough to talk to him and if i do I would freeze up or do something crazy like being loud and ubnoxious(spell check) anywho he is from Africa and I like him maybe a lot, but I just dont know what to say to him one of my friends told me to talk about Africa, but he hated Afica so I just dont know how to over come my shyness and get to know him. It seems like everytime I get near him I act a fool and that is so unattractive. I need some advice on how to get this guy.

reader, anonymous, writes (13 March 2011): I used to be like this too...When it comes to the guy you like, treat him like you would treat anyone else! It's hard but you have to concentrate on him as a person rather than the guy you like. Don't worry about what he thinks of you. Try not to impress him. You might be sick of hearing it but just be yourself cos that is the person you want him to fall for, right? :)So just wait until you are both reasonably alone and just try making small talk like asking the time or about lessons he takes in school or if he has a pencil you can borrow? Or you could compliment something he is wearing or doing. Hopefully he'll try and keep the conversation going!It's not easy being shy but honestly,act confident and be yourself and eventually you'll be confident :)

 I know exactly how you feel as im in the same situation right now. But I think you should try to talk to him (preferably when he's alone)and make friends with him, compliment him etc,then maybe see where it goes from there. I know its hard, im shy too :) but just be yourself and im sure he would not be able to resist!
