To listen or not to listen? Is he really as bad as everyone says?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hey there, a few weeks ago I went to this party and saw a lad that I already knew but never really spent any time with, well we really hit it off and now spend an awful lot of time together, but every one of our friends is warning us from each other.

He has got a bit of a bad reputation in the fact that he had been in a relationship with this girl, they were just making each other miserable they didn't get on and he strayed once but I can understand why he did it because he wasn't happy, as I have done the same thing with a previous relationship and I don't believe in once a cheat always a cheat, I believe when you're happy with someone you stay faithful.

I really like him so my question is do I listen to every one else as they know him better than me?
