This is a little bit of a story and a how to on how to not be taken advantage of.

I was given a job right off the bat by a man who owned a shop. At first i was young(17) and naive to think, maybe it is my personality and knowledge that got me the job.

Listen up ladies! Usually when a older man (30+) hires a young girl to work in his store, and you notice no other employees are men, then he is doing it to try and get in you pants.

It starts out simple, he will favor the new girl, give her more hours and meanwhile the other employees are going to hate your guts, and you're going to wonder why.

He will try to act like a honest, perfect, nice guy while you endure harrassment. Then after the threat is gone he will make his move. He will start telling you overly nice things. And I mean overly nice like "Your hair is really shiny today." Unless this man is gay, than you have a problem.

DO NOT DO ANYTHING ALONE AFTER WORK WITH THIS MAN! AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO LEAD HIM ON!

If his friend act weird around you, like they are stepping on egg shells than i encourage you to quit this job before things like this are said...

"I picture two things in the future, you and me married in Vermont, or us never talking again." For one thing, the guy added in the state of his choice! Talk about Pedophile!

The man that i speak of at the moment also told all of his friends we were happily together and hoping to get married and have more kids to add to his three....very weird considering i was 17 and he was 40.

Anyway avoid overly nice guys, (I'm sorry male readers who are genuine nice guys but honestly its true, sometimes a guy that is too nice is a risk) they may seem nice but they usually have sick twisted obsessions that can be dangerous if you know what it mean.

vamp-gal agony auntHeyy,

I'm 15, and it sucks to hear something like that has happened too you, and think it's great you are warning so many other girls, maybe even women, out there, who may do something like this, without thinking. Mainly because a) the age difference, you think that couldn't possibly happen, or b) because they are a nice guy, and nice guys wouldn't do something like that.

I agree, it's not all guys, and it's great you pointed that out, becuse all guys are different, overly nice, like you were saying..creepy, general comment, I think should be fine.

NO, never go out with someone, if you really don't know them, you just can't, unfortunatly.

Anyway, I'm sure a lot of people, women, and even men, would greatly appriciate this article, and is great that you would like to help others, not go through what you went through.

Good article!
