Should you always use your heart over your mind ?

Question - (19 April 2007) 2 Answers - (Newest, 19 April 2007)
A male New Zealand age 41-50, *onfusedsoul writes:

How far is it safe to listen to heart and do what it feels? I particularly have this problem with intellectuals who constantly use brains over heart in making important decisions in life. Normally i feel happy when i go with my heart, although it leads to raised eyebrows for many others who have rarely been able to do in their life what i am able to. There is normally a huge gap between what seems natural to me and what is being laid down upon me as being the socially acceptable behavior and this causes conflict, frustration and rebellion tendencies. Need some advice to get this right. Thank you.

DrPsych agony auntSometimes listen to your heart, sometimes your head...it really depends on the situation. If you feel your heart is racing ahead of you...step back, take time to think and if your heart is still racing then go with that feeling.
