Question - (24 February 2009) 5 Answers - (Newest, 24 February 2009)
A female Ireland age 36-40, anonymous writes:

i went to the opticians the other day and had the most awful experience.

firstly it was fine, i was so calm and happy trying out my contact lenses for the first time! Then the optician sent me through to a woman who didnt realise there was a lense already in my eye! so first of all she told me to put a contact lense in by myself (yes, TWO lenses in my right eye)..and she didnt instruct me on what to do.. Being my first time I panicked when i couldnt get it out of my left eye, after 30 minutes of her "watching" me clawing at my left eye i burst into tears.... i NEVER cry at anything, i just felt so frustrated and embarassed..

should i write a complaint? after this happened the woman didnt show any empathy at all- it was my first time ever wearing contact lenses and she was meant to show me what to do, but she just sat there!..

the fact they put two lenses in my right eye too, is NOT professional, so surely that gives me a right to make a complaint? she didnt have a clue what the optician done to my eyes either, they didnt interact at all

TasteofIndia agony auntIf you had a terrible experience, sure you should write a complaint! I've had the exact same experience with contact lenses, aren't they a bitch?? And it doesn't help when the trained professional across from you won't even show you how to put them in!

I'll tell ya, I couldn't get them in either (even though my lady showed me) and I left in a puddle of tears too. I'm sticking with glasses.

firstly and importantly you did well not to scream at her. They are trained professionals and should have helped.

Yes complain - if its a chain store then tell them what happened and you are surprised at this reaction, not what you expect from a leading brand etc. use the same words they use in their mission statement.llike we put customers first - so you say i dont think i was put first...
