reader, anonymous, writes (27 August 2012): Obviously she likes you as a friend, or may even consider you to be decent boyfriend material, but for her right now in life she prefers to be single.
Maybe she has not long come out of a relationship with someone who was a nightmare to be with, and its put her off relationships for the foreseeable future.
As for telling the other guys she's not interested because she couldn't do that to you, I'm guessing she's trying to put them off her by saying she's kind of into someone else, but the reality of this where you're concerned is, she considers you a nice friend but also knows you like her, and she wouldn't want to hurt your feelings by giving you one impression, and giving guys another.
That's my guess anyway.

reader, anonymous, writes (27 August 2012): the girl is just using you and holding you back,just move on because she is not into you or she is afraid of commitment because of previous relationships hence find it comfortable to be with you as a friend.
