 I just shave and use a deodorant with some soothing additives like aloe or vitamin E. Also, lotion under your arms with something light and unscented. It helps me at least.
You can wax, but you have to let the hair grow out quite a bit. It's up to you whether you want to wait that long (think around 2 weeks).
I have never enjoyed waxing ANY part of my body, but some people totally get used to it. You will be a bit tender at that part after wards.
