A female reader, Basschick Australia +, writes (2 October 2011):

Basschick agony auntIt all depends on what their problems are. Are we talking trivial problems like fights over money, over who's dong the house chores, daily power struggles? Or are we talking big things like extramarital affairs, sexual addiction, porn addiction, lying etc. It's really hard to give advise without more info. If your battles seems to be more about control and power struggles, I would say just stick it out and stay under the same roof. Even couples counseling might help you guys figure out who's role is who's. But if it's the more serious stuff I mentioned, it may require a trial separation and definately go to couples counseling.
