A male reader, rocknroll United States +, writes (3 June 2009):

As noted, have you gone and seen a doctor? If it is health related, then you shouldn't accept any suggestions from us.

There can be other issues as well as high blood pressure, over weight and lack of excersize, such as mental. Similar to stage fright or performance anxiety.

It is said that if you can get an erection while you sleep, then it isn't medical and viagra will not work because it is in the head or mental.

OK, first we have to go through the obligatory stuff about why you have ED -- have you been to the doctor, been checked for high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.?

Is there a reason that you aren't looking to your doc for a prescription for Viagra/Cialis/Levitra? Have you been found to be allergic to one of those (e.g. sudden hearing loss)?

If you are allergic to the prescription stuff (and those three are all the same drug), be careful about OTC meds, because some of them contain similar compounds at non-prescription strength -- could be very bad news.

I noticed an article the other day about penis enhancement pills -- some of these help with ED. Might be worth a read for you:

No, sorry. All the over the counter stuff is a rip-off. You will need to go to your MD and explain the situation. They will do some tests to see if your circulation is messed up or what. In the end he/she will prescribe Viagra or some other ED medication. I use a shot (Caverjet) in the penis. Doesn't hurt and gives the best erection you have had since high school. Discuss it with your wife - believe me - she wants you to have big, hard, lasting erections more than you do. It changed my and her life. Good luck.
