Mod Note: the title you chose had been used before, so i tweaked it a bit....

I need advice. I am 28, engaged, have 2 kids, and 3 soon to be step. I suffer from PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) and it is tearing my family apart. About 2 wks prior to "that time of the month" I become angry, sad, disconnected, I hide in my room, I yell, and I feel hatred towards my fíance. Little things that I would normally let roll right off my shoulder makes me flip out. Everything bothers me, noise, kids, my fiance, and family. No one wants to be around me and I dont blame them. My poor fiance puts up with alot, and he is at the absolute end. So, I visited my doctor (hoping I can fix this and make my family happy) and he prescribes me an anti-depressent and a medication for bi-poler disorder. I have been taking it and myself and my fiance have noticed a small change for the better. I need to know if any other women suffer from PMDD or men that are with a woman who has it...how do you cope?

Wow, thank you all. First, I am going to try the dark chocolate, sounds yummy, and I always seem to crave it around that time. If that fails, I will try the apple cider viniger and water (yuk), if that doesnt work I will try the herbals and if that doesnt work...I'm SOL!!!

I have PMDD. Years ago, my dr prescribed a birth control medication called Yasmin for endometriosis and it fixed the PMDD symptoms for 3 of 4 weeks of the month.

Unfortunately, i can't afford the Yasmin anymore...but i've recently found one thing that keeps my mood up...it's natural and affordable too...it's dark chocolate! I prefer the intense orange dark chocolate by Lindt...i have 1-2 squares upon waking and if i'm having PMDD symptoms 1-2 more squares about mid-afternoon to lift my spirits and prevent me from imploding emotionally.

Dark Chocolate naturally raises the amount of endorphins (feel good chemicals) in the brain...Please consider giving it a try...

I suffer from this as well and I was in a verbal and physically abusive relationship. My ex would say im crazy and not deal with it very well. I found the antideppresant just numbed me and it didnt take care of the underlyinI cause. I began trying apple cider vinegar and water and it did help but my ex ran me down alot and just made my disorder worse. I broke up with him. he wasnt very supportive and it sounds like yours is so just try that apple cider vinegar and water in the morning and at night, its not tasty but it might help like it helped me.

I use herbal supplements and excercise to stabalize my mood. Calming ones like Kava kava or valerian root to chill me out and 5-htp or L-thianine to help with the depression though I STRONGLY suggest you ask your doc first especially since even herbal supplements can have adverse reactions when taken with anti-depressants. Excercise on the other hand with help you burn off some steam, tire you out, and release natural endorphines. I use a punching bag and running most of the time but yoga works really good too if I don't feel like moving around a whole lot. A "do not disturb" sign goes up on my bedroom door too. A very clear warning in my household!
