 I see it a lot here in the US, BUT ( and this is a big but) I live on military installations and from what I have seen mixed marriages is as normal and non-mixed.
As I see it, there is 1 race. The human race. Variety and diversity should be a good thing.
I guess it's more common for a black male to date a white girl, then for a black girl to date a white guy. If the two of you can handle to looks, you can handle a lot more.

reader, anonymous, writes (21 May 2009): People do stare and make a deal out of anything that is not seen as "conventional". I used to date a man who was a fair bit older than me, and we got stared at a lot too.
It really is their problem. As long as you are happy together, that is what matters. x

I used to go out with a black girl of jamaican heritage. I never realised how much racism there was in my part of the country. She did warn me when we first started dating.
There was the odd sneered comment here and there. Somtimes old people were the worst with comments like: "they want to send them home were they belong." I even came across it in my own family. She used to go mad at me for losing my temper. I actually hurt someone one night outside the local. He was one of those new age neo natzi types with a swastika tattooed on his neck. A proper f...... idiot. We used to get stared at a lot. When we stayed in Manchester at her sisters there was no problem as Manchester is more intergrated with many races, a lot of them jamaicans.
In the end we split up through unrelated issues but still remain good friends. There is nothing you can do about the staring except to flaunt your happiness to them and on the whole ignore them.
