Our relationship doesn't seem as strong as it used to be... why is this?

A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I have been dating my boyfriend for a year and a half now, and we are almost always long distance because of college. I can't tell if I still love him or just don't want to be alone. When he used to visit we would be all over each other, but now I don't always feel in the mood (I also started the pill, so this could be a problem).

How can I tell if I still love him?

Hi :)

I know exactly how you feel, because I've been there before.

The only thing I can say is that the physical side of things does get a bit boring later in the relationship because you know each other so well already and there are no surprises anymore, you know the person's every next move. Once the passion has died down a bit all you are left with is the person, and you should be able to just be with that person and enjoy their company. This doesn't necessarily mean there is no longer any love between you anymore, but it sounds like maybe you just need some space and a change of scenery? Tell him you want some time to yourself, maybe a week or two. Go out with your friends, have fun, do the things you like to do. And if you start to miss him, you'll know the answer to your question.

Practical agony aunt

yes .. it could be because of the birth control..

if u really love him, cared about him, and there are no problems between u too .. then u have nothing to worry about .. this feeling will be gone soon ..

however, if u continue to feel like this in like 2-3 months .. maybe u should talk to him about it ..
