A female reader, Another_Kapiti New Zealand +, writes (15 November 2009):

Another_Kapiti agony auntDo not spend time alone with this man! I realise I'm stating the obvious but for a 55 year old man to request spending time with a young girl is morally wrong and out of bounds! I think the best thing to do would be to speak to your parents, then a head teacher (or Principal) and request changing classes/teachers.

If he asks you to stay after class again, ask a friend to stay with you, or refuse (you are well within your rights to refuse) say that you're needed at home and leave immediately.

bubblegirl1818 agony auntI think you should avoid talking to him and make sure he knows you dont want any thing to do with him. If he keeps it up even though he nows you dont want any thing to do with him try telling a adult your close to or some one at the school you trust.

Your teacher is being utterly stupid. I urge you to firmly say 'No' and stay out of his way as much as possible. (I write as a teacher in his 50's.)
