I would like to know if this is normal. On my left hand, my ring finger is shorter and has no knuckle, I have not been in any fights or anything not that I can remember of. I would like to know am I the only one with this feature and is it abnormal?

Also is there anything else that can be done about it e.g. like surgery?

please help

I have this particular condition as you all have spoken of, am 44and the diagnosis I was give ix called "psudohypoperathyroidism".

I was 7yrs old when the signs started to show....BUT I didn’t find this out until I had my 3rd child.my youngest son has this and it was he that was diagnosed and so that is how I had learned what it was.

I have been teased my whole life and I just wanted to hide my hands! I have "NEVER" had my nails done.to top it off I’ve also got a condition on my right toe where the 4th toe is shorter than the others, I was watching dr. oz and he had a segment about bryachimedatarcia...OMGGOSH!!!! There was my foot!!!!

I couldn’t believe it...my toe gets sore and my balance isn’t the greatest. I would absolutely LOVE to get all this corrected. This is so,so,so exciting to know there are more people in this tiny world with the cond.i never knew of another to know of this.this is a genetic disorder and it does begin at or around 7yrs.old.i do have other info if anyone is interest...

I noticed it when I was 5 years old.My mom looked at my hand one day and she was like what is wrong with your hands. She said that my hands were not like that at birth.I dont really know but i would like to learn more about it.I have a 3 year old son and so far he doesnt have it.

I have the same thing, only it's in ALL of my fingers except for my thumbs. I've never thought about changing it and it's never caused me problems. I've been a bicycle mechanic for about 5 years and I'm also a puppeteer. Sometimes I'd like to know what the official term is, other times I don't care. Kids made fun of me so often I turned into quite the bully. Now that I'm older, I love them and I don't think to hide them anymore.

Whatever it's called, it's made me a strong person and it kicks ass.

I am so glad to hear I am not the only one with this problem, I have simply just lived with it my whole life, no issues, I only knew one other person with the same issue, I dont know what it is, but my left ring finger is as short as my pinky and has no knuckel. Well, i feel a semi small knuckel +- in the middle of my hand if you follow the finger bone. Weird, but so glad to not be the only one, yay yay yay

bigdaddyjb1 agony auntDear Male unk, 53 I am 49 yrs of age, black male,6'2", good build. I have that same condition on both my hands with no knuckles either. I have asked all my life what is the medical term for this and how it happens! The best answer and the most consistent was that, during the 9 months inside moms tummy, for a full 24 hour period we stopped growing! Still couldnt get a medical term but it happens to 1 in 100,000 people Im gonna send some pics along! I always felt blessed cause it didnt stop me from anything I wanted to do and was too big to be teased!

I Have this issue on both of my hands. Both of my ring fingers are short, Just a little longer then my pinkie fingers and I have a knuckle on both hands but it is lower so it looks like I don't have knuckles on either finger. It seems to me that my bones my be short? That is what the top of my hand looks like. The back of my hand where the back of my Knukle is dips in. Some people notice and make a big deal and others don't know or care.

I noticed it when I was in grade school as well and I have been asking Doctors about it since then and they all think it is so bizarre and have never seen it before. It is such a relief to know there are other people out there that have the same uniqueness:)

I used to be very paranoid about it and I was especially worried about boys and marriage since it is that special finger! I was afraid a wedding ring wouldn't even fit me. Well all those worries were a negative waste. I am 24 and have never had a problem dating. Now I am actually happily married and have been for 2 years:) and my husband adores that I am different. And I confidently and proudly wear my beautiful engagement ring and wedding band on my little finger and they fit comfortably:)

Amen for the things that set us apart and makes us who we are

alright i have the same issue but it's actually on both hands. i never noticed til 3rd grade when my friend and i were playing a hand game(patty cake) and i notice that her ringer finger was longer than mines but our other fingers where the same size as eachother. and i know i have a knuckle but its not visible. i mean i can feel it but when i ball my fist up you cant see it. and i've been wondering all my life should i get surgery or even if there is surgery for this but my friends and family make it alright that my finger is abnormal. most of the time they say they forget about it til i actually bring it up. my only issue is that i be kinda scared to show my hands to boys (maybe future husband) because of what their reaction might be. but i guess if im not the only one like this then im kinda relieved because i actually thought i was.

you are not the only one with this feature! i have the EXACT same problem. on my left hand my ring finger is the same size as my pinky because i was born without a knuckle. it is a bit abnormal...i don't know anyone else with this problem. but if you really don't like it you can get surgery. my doctor asked if i wanted to get it done but i thought it made me..well..ME.. so i said no. you can also get a prosthetic finger though that can be expensive.

I have the same issue although my finger isn't shorter. I once got an x-ray of it and I could tell the doctors were amazed by it because they never seen it before. Basically I did have a knuckle although it appeared that i didn't. I don't rember exactly but I think my knuckle was just farther in my hand which made it appear like it wasn't there. The doctor said they could attempt surgery but It doesn't bother me and I already knew it was a birth defect that runs in the family. So I told them I didn't need it. just wonding what does the front of your hand look like?

Does that finger work normally? If yes, then so long as its not causing problems why put yourself through unnecessary surgery?

Most people have knuckles on all fingers are you saying the joint is not there or is it simply not visible?

If it worries you see a doctor but as someone else has posted it hasnt bothered you all this time, why worry.x

Gena Bullock agony auntIt could be a birth defect. It hasn't bothered you all this time, I wouldn't worry about it. You could talk to a doctor about it to get medical advice. Otherwise, its like the appendix...you can do without the knuckle. Gena
