He has got a split personality disorder. There is not much you can do except to recognize those conditions and be more understandings. You cannot regulate him like a faucet.

a few things pop into my mind but even if you shared more information and I was able to narrow it down, I'm not a doctor ... and your husband needs some professional assistance.
If he refuses, you should spend time with a counselor. Living with a person that has you an eggshells screws with your head and makes reality a confusing distortion.
