My gay friend's boyfriend doesn't like me... What do I do?

A age 30-35, anonymous writes:

My gay friend's boyfriend hates me. He thinks im going take him from him (im not gay) (not true we're just friends.) We dont get along at all. I lip off to him a lot (he so annoying.) It bugs my friend a lot (I dont blame him.) If we're in the same (which isn't likely) he would start calling names (I cant repeat some.) I usually try and not react or try and left the room but they can be hurtful. There are times when I want to punch him out. What Should. I do? I cant it anymore!

A female reader, katatonik United States +, writes (3 December 2008):

katatonik agony auntIf you are female and your friend is gay, I don't see the problem. Get your gay friend to explain to his boyfriend that he's gay (not bi, and not attracted to women). That should help. Try not "lipping off" to him while you're at it, or better yet, make plans to hang out with your friend when he and his boyfriend aren't hanging out together.
