Buy grapefruit seed extract from the health food shop. Dilute it and (please excuse the description) squirt it inside yourself while you are on your back using a bottle with a nozzle of some kind. It is a harmless remedy that can be used to treat thrush, athletes foot, cuts, mouth ulcers, you can drink it and even purify water with it. I keep in by the sink and evern rinse out old face cloths (you know how they smell after a while) and in an instant they are lovely and fresh.

It was discovered by a physicist who noticed that grapefruit seeds never rot in a compost heap! He then found that it deactivates many viruses and bacteria. It does not strip them away, which could cause an inbalance, just immobilises them. Look it up on the internet if you need more info. Also be aware that the water will rush out again so make sure you are not in the bus queue when it happens! Jokes asside, it really is fab. I wouldn't use it if trying to get pregnant but appart from that whenever required.

The only way you'll find out what it is is by going to the doctors. It could be a number of things. Are there any other symptons or is it just the smell? Does it itch at all? Just because you haven't had sex doesn't mean you can't get infections 'down there', and sometimes, washing with soap or shower gel only inflames it. The best way to keep it clean is to wash it with salt water. If it is itchy then this also helps soothe it too.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (20 April 2007):

There are many possible ways to get an infection down there. Not only by sex. You can get an infection in the swimmingpool or from using tampon for example. If you wash down there, don't use soap. Only use water. Because the soap degrades the natural environment infectious microorganism like bacteria or fungi can easier proliferate. So only use water at the outside. Only ware cotton underware, change your underware every day, and wash them at 60°C not only 40°C. If you wash at 60°C the heat will kill the microorganisms which stick on your underware. If that doesn't help you should go to see a doctor for it could be a bad infection that could do a lot of harm.
