fairytail agony auntThanks I realize we are in a tough job market these days. I do appreciate having a a job I just cant get into my field right now. I have early morning hours and the pay is not very much. I normally do not work on Sundays but I work with another girl and we split our shift. I dont mind the Saturdays because I get out early before one. I am looking to transfer next year with in the same store to another department with more pay. It really is more about the pay than the hours. My payments exceed my income right now it is really tough. I am willing to stay until she is able to find a replacement for me. If I can get a transfer. I also work another job in retail one day a week. I know about working hard and Im never late for work and dont call in sick. I did hear talk that hours are being cutt to save money. Thanks for all your advice. :)

Fatherly Advice agony auntAs an employer, all my employees want Friday off. I can understand wanting a 3 day weekend but why can't half of them do it on Monday? If i want to keep someone on longer hours I always pick the employees who are most productive. The ones who are not prone to long breaks and standing around chatting. Now in my business Saturdays are rare, Only the salesmen really have Saturday requirements and those are not every week. My Wife on the other hand has a 24 / 7 job. If one of her employees said they couldn't work weekends, that would mean that the other employees would have to take an unfair share of weekend shifts. If they couldn't work weekends to work another job she would tell them that she sincerely hopes that the other job can get them hours on other days and let them go. That's just the nature of that kind of job. The real nasty trick they have in her industry is not to fire someone, just stop scheduling them hours. Maybe 2 four hour shifts a week, Then when they ask why they say , "well with you schedule restrictions .. . . . ." until the unsatisfactory employee gets the hint and quits. When an employee quits it is easier to deny them unemployment.

I hope this helps you see your situation from another perspective.
