A reader, anonymous, writes (1 January 2010):

this is not the place to seek legal advice pertaining to Indian law... you need legal assistance, not random advice.

She's left, is there any favor in your position because she chose to abandon a comfortable healthy life?

Is there a method of getting a simple, no-fault, non-contested divorce where the two of you simply go your own ways? How long were you married?

I'm not sure why it's important to note that she is an orphan, if she has an Aunt, it appears as if you're trying to say both her parents are dead, but she has family, so what is the point??? Is this a matter of money from your family to her?

If because she had no parents, and you elected to pay for the wedding (what choice did you have?) and now you want compensation for this, this may only be possible if the wedding was recent, and not long ago where she can claim that she gave your marriage an honest try.

Is there anyway to have the marriage annulled, that is to say, declared invalid which would make it as if it never happened. If you're trying to protect your family, this may be a route to explore.

Good luck- try to make this a positive experiece, you're getting rid of a problem, she will always have to live with herself, and soon (more than likely) someone else will too.

Rejoice each day that she is someone else's sore...
