RedAthena agony auntI would ignore ANY texts, emails, etc of someone who asks personal questions like that and does not know you.

If they have courage to actually get to know you and befriend you..sure:)

Ignore. Delete. Done.

let me make myself clear, yes i received a text from my classmate that ask "are you plu?" since i'm not close to that guy, i just wander why he asked me?

i don't want to sound rude so i just ignore it, i guess he might be gay but not sure though...

A female reader, RedAthena United States +, writes (25 June 2011):

RedAthena agony auntSo, what exactly are people asking?

"Are you gay or straight?"

Things like that?

Disarm them by asking "Why do you ask?" with a big smile on your face. Or "Why do you need to know?"

There is NO problem telling people that you find their questions to be rude.

I have also said "Wow, that is awfully person to ask someone you do not know well. You have poor manners."

I found some VERY rude people who asked a deeply personal things about me and lost my patience and politeness for...I only reccomend using heavy sarcasm with people you have no intention of speaking to ever again.

"Wow you looked like someone who was raised better than that. I guess I was wrong."

"It is better to be thought a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt"

"Hmm, I did not think you were that shallow. Pity"

"Why yes I am, but you are not my type"

"I would love to answer that, but I get to ask you one incredibly personal, rude and invasive question afterwards..ok?"

"NO, but would you like to know my bra size/last menstrual period/penis size? Those are pretty personal too"
