Is what we're doing considered dating?

A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I would really appreciate it if I can get another point of view about how people define dates.

I've met this guy under platonic circumstances, he made it clear that he is currently busy with graduate school and not looking for casual sex. In any case, we've known each other for a few months now and have become pretty familiar with each other.

We would always go out together for activities like concerts, shows, dinner or iceskating. Our conversations are always stimulating and comfortable. I would be getting pretty much all platonic vibes until some unplatonic things, like hand holding, some touching and conscious compliments on my looks, but nothing alarmingly serious.

I am aware of the fact that so far we're just friends, I'm not sure if what we've been doing count as dating? Are these dates?

KickRox agony auntI was wondering the same thing a few weeks ago. And sorry to say this but 'no' it would just be hanging out as friends. I could be wrong, but he made it clear that he's not looking for casual sex, yet he's a busy man.

Who knows, maybe after he's done with his studies.

Good luck and keep me posted!

I wouldn't consider it dating unless both people express a romantic interest in each other, he said at the start that he wasn't looking for that.

Unless of course you consider meeting up with friends, dates.

So I guess it all comes down to how you would define a date.
