I am a bit worried. I bought this fade cream by the brand AMBI. This product contains hydroquinone 2%. I was wondering if this product is safe to use for whitening my face even though it has hydroquinone 2%? I heard this is bad or maybe cancerous. Please help! Thanks.

maverick agony auntHello there.I am not qualified as a chemist so please take my response with a pinch of salt.

Hydroquinone is used as a component of skin whitening creams and you are right in some countries it's use in this manner has been deemed illegal (France) because of fears of causing cancer. It's woth noting that diffrent countries will have different safety laws.

The following is a Wikipedia article with references and links at the bottom.

If you are in doubt then I would suggest to cease using this item.

I think a better question would be if it is necessary to use skin lightening cream? Just a thought.
