Is this an awkward relationship?

My bf once lived in an old man's house for a month (as a lodger) and ever since then the man continually texts my bf asking for a catch up over a drink and meals etc. When he sees my bf he kisses him on the cheek and is really funny acting and awkward with me. Is this just normal? It makes me feel a bit weird. Obviously never going to stop my bf meeting with him, but I still feel a little awkward about the whole thing.
