reader, anonymous, writes (5 August 2009): i know just how hard it can be to spill your guts to someone. but every relationship NEEDS communication and trust. without it you dont really have much. sure there are some personal things that you dont talk about with a partner as soon as you start dating, but as you grow as a couple you come to talk about any and everything. there's nothing wrong with spilling your heart. and if this girl thinks otherwise, and can't appreciate you letting her inside then she doesnt deserve you.

You were honest, nobody can ask for more than that, you spoke from the heart gave all you have what girl would see that a turn off? Theres not many men around that show how there feeling and that sends the wrong message wasting two people who are in love because one is reluctant to be honest about how they feel.
Its the best thing you could give to a person, honesty, you gain trust and its the best way to start a fresh and find a way forward, dont doubt what you did whatever the reasons or the past, you did the right thing in telling her how you really feel.
The fact that your insecure doesnt come into it, youve been genuine and if she wants the same shell offer that back. If you cant be honest with the one you love who can you be honest with?
You did the right thing, dont doubt that
