Is he flirting with me?

A female United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Hi,

What does it mean when a man says 'I'm all the better to see you.' (with a slight smile) in response to what my simple 'How are you?' It's just that it's not a very common phrase so...

And also, he was talking to me about his job and he mentioned that he left a work post after a year to come back to his previous job. I asked him, 'why did you leave?' and all he did was look at me, expectantly with a mysterious smile and said, 'On a need to know basis? Do you really want to know?". All I did was bluff a thoughtful pause because even though I was curious I didn't want to seem intrusive (even though I was just about to say yes anyway.)

But as I was about to wait a second before speaking, this other person butts in with a 'yes' (it was a group situation) and instantly the spell is broken.

In my opinion it is a YES, he is flirting with you. Men are straight foward when it comes to this sort of stuff. If a woman would say to me "I'm all the better to see you" then I would be very carefull in how I would interperate that simply because women are irritatingly unreadable in these situations!!! It might mean that the girl likes me but it also can be total meaningless!!

When a guy says something like that then it means he likes what he see's...
