I know what it feels like!

i have that problem!

im 16

and i made up so many excuses why i could do to the beach this summer everytime my boyfriend asked!

its horrible!

So see you doctor and if they dont let you get it off

then do what my friend did and use one or some of these...

I get bullied by it

I feel so self-conious about it

It itches

Sometimes it bleeds

Its changed colour and shape

^Some might even be true!

I dont know what happenes if you lie to your doctor but my friend did it and she got away with it!

hope it all goes okay :) x

wow...I have one on my back too about the same size and im your age so dont feel like u are the only one. I also have a larger one on my arm and i hate them. I dont make it a big deal and all my friends just know they're there and i've never had a problem with it weirding out a guy. I hate it tho, and i have the same problem w/ worring about what bathing suit i wear. My bf prolly wouldnt care but i still dont want him to see it so id love to get them both removed. I've been talkin to my mom about it and i might make an appointment soon. I think id feel much better to have them gone, that way i dont have to worry about putting high sunblock on them either cause that just makes them look even worse... so i hope u feel better knowing someone else has one cause i do, but lets just go get them taken off!!!

A female reader, DrPsych United Kingdom +, writes (5 June 2006):

DrPsych agony auntFirst of all you have to put this into perspective - it is a relatively small mole and some people have all sorts of facial disfigurements to deal with that cannot be covered up with clothing. Secondly, you would be wise to keep it covered up because moles are susceptible to skin cancer when over-exposed to the sun. Therefore you should be either plastering it with maximum sun block or keep it covered up. Therefore when you wear a bikini you should perhaps put a white t-shirt on top.

Hopeful agony auntHave you had this mole checked out by a doctor recently?

More importantly than just vanity - moles need to be regularly assessed by a doctor to make sure they are not anything more sinister.

I would take yourself off to your GP and show him/her the mole and get them to look at it for two things - first of all, is it harmless - secondly, is it a mole that can be/should be removed - thirdly, if it can be removed, will it leave a scar?

Good luck

i had one on my ankle - ugly lookin thing it was. I got it removed, made up some story about the scar - now it just blends in with all my other scars. Just go to the doctor, get it removed say it was a tattoo u didn't want or something- use your imagination if u think people don't want to here the truth and still accept u!! good luck!

I completely understand what you mean. I have a mole on my leg, so I hate wearign shorts. BUt it's true that if you try not to care about it, other people are nto likely to either. And if they do ask "what IS that thing?" You can just tell them the truth. If you say it like it doesn't matter, they will leave you alone. Good luck with it!

kt agony auntdnt worrie, people have loads of things they hate about there body, everybody does. dont let it get you down, people proberly wont notice anyway. if its really bothering you i think you can have it removed, my mum had one removed, so just talk to your doctor about it, but i wouldn't worrie about it. be proud of who you you are and how your body looks, im sure other people wont notice it.
