A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I am really terrified my boyfriend's friends don't like me. He is always saying that everyone thinks I'm really quiet which makes me think they are sitting around discussing me, I'm so paranoid they are telling him to break up with me. I wish I was more confident but I'm naturally quiet especially around big groups of people

A reader, anonymous, writes (31 August 2009):

If a guy likes you he will talk about you to his friends in a positive way. I think he is telling you that he wishes you would talk to his friends, they want to get to know you. Don't make something out of nothing, if his friends are polite to you, then you are cool.

What you need to do is to be thinking about whether or not you like this boys friends and if this boy is good enough, nice enough for you, not whether or not you are measuring up to his friends. This is about you being happy and taking care of yourself to see that you are treated with respect and kindness at all times; Even by his friends.
