A female United Kingdom age 18-21, anonymous writes:

I want to be pregnant. Im 19 i had an abortion last year and had the depo provera straight after which lasts for 3 months. I feel i made the choice for all the wrong reasons and now really want a baby with my fiance. Problem is he doesn't know! i know he'll be supportive if it happens but he wont go out of his way to make this happen. I have been trying for a year now and no luck. If i go for fertility treatment they will want to test him too. What do i do?

Depo Provera

"A "normal" side effect is the delayed return of fertility after going off the drug. It takes a median time of 10 months following the last injection to achieve pregnancy, with a "normal" range of 4 to 31 months (some users report indefinite infertility). This is unrelated to the duration of use; it doesn't matter how many injections were received."

If you wish to have a baby you need to tell your boyfriend, its irresponsible not too, even though your boyfriend may humor you, its important that both partners are ready and fully committed to having a baby. Its also incredibly disrespectful and manipulative to trick your man into getting you pregnant. If you know he's supportive just tell him.

You must let him know that you are ready for a baby. If you suddenly got pregnant without his knowledge then he could grow to resent you for this and you could be left alone.

85% of couples get pregnant within a year, so the chances are you are in the unlucky 15% who have to wait a little longer. If nothing happens soon then you should see a doctor and can be referred for tests, both of you together.

Good luck
