A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Recently, I have started to fall for this guy(17)I know from school and I really want our friendship to develop into something more romantic. For a while now things have been really flirty and we have got to know each other better. However, last week I found out that he has a girlfriend who lives in another country. Since finding this out I haven’t pursued anything with him but he has asked me if I want to meet him at the weekend (initially my suggestion before I knew about the girlfriend).

My actual concern is whether I should completely back off and make it clear I don’t want to get in the way of their relationship or continue to hint that I like him regardless. Usually, in a situation like this I wouldn’t think twice about a guy with a girlfriend, but I just can’t seem to stop thinking about him especially as he is still sending me signals which I find hard to ignore. I’m so confused! – What are your opinions??

Agree to meet with him but you need to be honest with him. Tell him you like him but that while he's got a girlfriend, you'll respect her not to take things any further. He may feel the same about you but he must end it with his girlfriend first. Trust me there's nothing worse than being cheated on regardless of how close or far apart you are.
