 You could still talk about school, ask him about the subjects he's studying, if he enjoys them etc. You could chat about anything really, ask him what his interests are, what music he's into. You only need one thing to start talking and after that the conversation should just flow. Don't plan out too many things in your head or you'll end up tounge tied and confused! As for the hugging thing, just wait until things are freindly and flirty and give him a hug yourself, you don't need to ask him! Good luck.
