I like my teacher - how can I stop acting so weird when she talks to me?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, *rotchet writes:

Hi everyone.

Well, I'm a 17 year old girl and I have very strong feelings for my approx 29 year old teacher. She's gorgeous but only in my eyes (as in, she's not typically beautiful). We get on brilliantly well and I have liked her for about a year now. On my first day back at school she greeted me with a hug. I get preferential treatment during class.

Now, I'm not asking "Does she like me?" because she probably doesn't but I need advice on how to stop acting so weird when she talks to me. We usually talk to each other after class but I can never look her in the eye, and always end up staring at the wall as I talk. I always feel annoyed if she's ever nice to the other students, and I think it shows sometimes. Help!

Thank you. Yes I could definitely see myself being with her but I do try not to get my hopes up :P I'm going to take your advice to stop imagining her as my teacher. Thanks again.

Is it just a simple crush? I know you have liked her for a while now, but can you see yourself actually being with her? Regardless that she is your teacher. Because you never know, she may feel the exact same way towards you. I say give it a shot, by means flirt with her. If she is giving you special attention during class, well then by the way you put it, it sounds a little more than just "friendly." I think you are just weirded out because she is your teacher. Which is normal but she is simply a regular person, so act natural around her. Dont be intimidated by the fact she is your teacher or what not. I have liked a few of my teachers as well, although when you ignore the fact that she is your teacher, the situation will seem a lot easier. Sorry if none of that has helped... good luck!
