I have phobias about life!

i have a strange question but sometimes it really does get to me so much i think i need help. i feel abit scared like a phobia of life and dont want to be here. wouldnt do anything silly i dont mean in that way i just mean i cant cope with things like being ill or sick and im so scared of being ill anytime and feeling sick that i start to feel ill cause its on my mind. i also worry about the future alot and how would i cope if im ever left alone and my parents are no longer round. there getting older now and i feel i wont cope without them so i worry each day about the future and keep thinking i will never have a good future. im lonely without brothers and sisters so only live with parents. i do see friends now and again but i worry about life and how 2cope when there no longer round. looking for work rite now so parents pay the bills and if anything happens 2them i cant pay the bills. im so scared of the future and im scared of getting any type of illness then i just dont know how to think positive. i feel like i need looking after more now then when i was a child. plz help. all advice welcome and thanks in advance. im greatful.

thanks for both your advice im so greatful. yeah i think the fear comes from still living at home in my 30s having no job or brothers and sisters and parents paying the bills so im scared how to cope with life once there gone etc. is the countsellor free when you visit doctor and what type do i ask for? thanks again for both answers and hope i get more replys.

person12345 agony auntIf you're talking about fear of vomiting by sick you have one of the 10 most common phobias in the world, emetophobia. If you mean other kinds of sickness the treatment is actually the same. You really need to see a good counselor, someone who specializes in phobias. It's really important that you do this.

Here is something you can do while you're finding a counselor.

When you start to panic, the part of your brain that processes fear gets going and won't stop. You can't "reason" with it by telling yourself you're being irrational, it isn't a thinking portion of your brain. It only responds to body chemicals/hormones. You have to calm down your body response to fear, escalated heart rate, and shallow fast breathing to turn off the panic. You basically just have to learn to force yourself to breathe slowly and relax your muscles, especially the muscles this phobia makes you tense.

A good exercise if you start to panic is to first breathe in for two seconds, then out for two seconds. Then in for three, out for three, up to 10. While you're doing that, towards the end of your slow breathing, figure out which muscles are tense and relax them. This will allow you to remind yourself, OK this isn't really dangerous, it cannot kill me. After awhile of doing this EVERY time you feel panic, it will become second nature/muscle memory.
