My cat died 2 weeks ago and since then I've been having disturbing dreams (I guess nightmares) about him. No one close to me has ever died before except my grandma but I was too young to be affected at the time. I don't really know how to deal with grief and I'm finding these dreams really disturbing (sometimes I dream about his rotting carcass etc). I know it sounds stupid to a lot of people because he's only a cat, but I really need some advice on how to deal with the loss.

I am not sure the best way to deal with loss but I can tell you that is sometimes just as hard to lose someone in a relationship. I broke up with a gf who cheated on me and I could not sleep for weeks. I just kept having dreams of her being with other people. It gets to a point where you dont even want to fall asleep. Remember this is not stupid these are your feelings and if it hurts you it matters. Maybe you could see a doctor to give you something mild to help you sleep and just for a little bit until you can cope. Sorry for you loss and hang in there with time it will heal.
