A female United Kingdom age 30-35, *don'tKnowWhatToDo writes:

Hiya I really need some help. I lots of friends but 3 very close friends. Chloe, Aimee and Stacie.* Recently Chloe and Stacie had a bit of a fall out and now there is alot of tention and awkwardness between them. They bearly talk and if they do it is the odd word or two but nothing more than that.

I was sat in a maths class on Thursday and Stacie, who I am probably closest to said to me 'I can't believe you're talking to Chloe' I looked at her and said 'What?' and then she said she was only joking. But then yesterday (Friday) I got off the school bus and she was talking fine to me like we usually do and then during break and lucnch if I tried to talk to her she would just say one word answers and answer me harshly. After the end of lunch bell rang Stacie just got up with the other people me chloe, aimee and stacie hand around with and walked off. Stacie didn't say bye have a nice weekend or anything like we usually do.

I feel like she is angry at me for talking to Chloe and I don't like that feeling. I don't want to choose between friends but I also don't want to lose a really great friend. I am so confused and I need help.

Please help me xxxx

A male reader, Brunel Wallis and Futuna +, writes (2 May 2010):

Then you must tell her this as you should not be expected to make choices. You really need to make it clear that you are not prepared to compromise or choose.

You have been very mature over this and you will find lots of things happen like this in our lifetime. This will be the forerunner of lots of issues over who to choose?

Good Luck!
