All you can do is be honest with him, tell him your not ready for a relationship with him or anyone at the moment and that you hope you can be friends......

 There is no really nice way to break up with someone. What you gotta do is tell him exactly how you feel and hopefully he won't get too upset.
Its not pleasant but if you don't love someone then you gotta let him/her go. If you stay with him/her then it's just wasting time to really be happy with other people.
