A mutual attraction developed between me and a work colleague. I have now left the company but occasionally contact this guy on business level.

I would like to send him an xmas card and suggesting that we link up as I would like to see him as a friend and use him for career advice. I am unsure how to word it without coming across in the wrong way. I do fancy him but would like to get to know him first. I do not want the meeting to appear like a date and I would like it away from his office.

Any suggestions really appreciated. I would have to send the card to his work place so do not want to embarrass him.

Denise32 agony auntYou fancy him, and feel there is a mutual attraction (unless the attraction is solely on your side, but you HOPE he's attracted to you as well).

Yet at the same time, you want to develop a friendship and get career advice from him.

Well, you're just going to have to decide what you want most: a romantic connection or a friendship, and go from there.

Why not just invite him to go to lunch with you? The holidays are coming, so you could offer that as an opportunity for a friendly meeting. Maybe call him? Unless you feel that would be too much out of the blue and take him completely by surprise......
