Okay Im a male that sort of has a huge problem that I need some advice on.Im a 15 year old kid still in high school trying to make it threw but Im am sort of an alcoholic.I drink every single day, usually hard alcohol like a least a half of a fifth of if not more.Or I'll just drink about 15 beers.I don't think I even have a liver anymore and I feel horrible all the time(physically and mentally). The only reason I started drinking alcohol around the age of 13(legal age is 21)is because of how stressed I am all the time,my life just really pisses me off.Im almost ready to move on to somthing else but Im worried I might not be alive much longer if I do that.I have tried to quit drinking but I feel like a 35 year old drunk it's impossible on.I've been in the hospital twice because I almost died from alcohol poisening. Please if anyone has experience with this sort of problem or even just advice please let me know anything

Please.

A female reader, Minelisse Puerto Rico +, writes (13 June 2008):

Minelisse agony auntHi there...

I am recovering alcoholic and started my meetings at 28. A lot of people there (AA) had been struggling with alcohol since about your age. They really regret waiting 10-20 years to deal with this. If you can do it now, it will save you a lot of very difficult experiences in life!

When someone believes they might have a problem with alcohol they should ask themselves:

1. Do I get in trouble when I drink? That could be with someone else or with yourself.

2. When I start drinking, is it difficult for me to stop?

If the answers are yes then you are likely to have a problem with alcohol. The first step is to recognize that and you have. My choice, although you might have a different one, was to join a local AA chapter. I chose one where there were young people meeting so I could feel more comfortable. There are also some online groups you can join and in which you can speak freely about your troubles with alcohol. It is a difficult road but believe me, nothing is more difficult that what you are going trough now... I know!

Addiction is considered by some to be a obsessive compulsive disorder. The obsession lies within your wanting to drink and planning where and what you will be drinking, and the compulsion is the part where you start drinking a feel a release for doing so and continue to do so compulsively. Alcoholism as any other addiction is not the source but the symptom. That means that there is a lot to work on for you to overcome an addiction. Your anger management, self esteem and other possible psych issues were there before and thats what you need to deal with (that is what the 12 steps are for).

In my case, I've been sober for more than two years and just for today I do not have the desire to drink and you know what... that feels so darn GREAT!! I've taken up sports, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba, baseball (had to do something with all the free time I got when I stopped drinking lol)... I finished my masters degree in psych and I am beginning law school in August. Is not easy, it is quite painful at the beginning, I had to leave friends, I had to stop going out to pubs and bars I even hated my first birthday and Christmas when I stopped drinking... but one day in the pain of stopping does not compare to the desperation and emptiness I felt when I was using.

Thank God and my AA for today I will not have a drink!

I really hope this helps... I am here whenever you need/want to talk!

ok we all know that "AA mettings don't work", its motivation you need. People usall think for some aparent reason that at the age of thirteen, you can not get stressed, well I allways felt stressed, mostly because of puberty, you are an emotional wreck, which sucks really bead, but I used another method in getting rid of stress, honestly, in place of cutting myself, cause that was my method at first, I ate chocolate most of the time, and now I am an addict, but the point is that when I cut myself, It felt really wrong, I was hurting myself and by doing that, much like alcohol, I was throwing my life away, and I did not want that, I want a family of my own, so I started to eat chocolate, that worked alot, accept now I am a chocoholic. But my point is, just try anything to get rid of that alcohol problem, it also helped to masterbate to get rid of stress, that works alot. Try something in place of alcohol, and I mean something that won't do your health bad.
