 when my last girlfriend dumped me, she wrote a very nice letter, and now we're best friends, which actually works better for us. Just be nice about it, exress that there's nothing wrong with him, you're just ready to move on, and wait a week or two before you make your relationship with the other guy public, so it won't hurt your soon-to-be ex as much. Also, I'd wait a little (if you haven't already) to see if you really do like this other guy, so you don't regret going out with HIM.
