Other things to get in touch with him are emailing, e-cards, and I just noticed - why are you doing all the calling? Isn't he calling you at all?

 U can talk on the internet bias chat or live conversatoin by yahoo or even for free if you have a messenger program, emails are good and text messages are expensive but maybe u can afford 3 a week , it's really cheap compared with talking all day, also bear in mind the time of the call maybe u can phone at 4 am or 3 a big effort could mean double time speaking for less maonay, there are also special phone cards maybe you can afford one a month to sort of talk a feew miniutes in a more privy way ask your phone company about the issue
It is not that difficult, you'll see
