He wants to bail on me and not come to an important event with me! Help!

A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hey guys, I think I'm in slight hate with my bf...heres the story: I ask him to come with me (and my family) this HUGE, important event and he could make it he's off that day but nooo. I mean, I'm getting a really good award...but I'm guessing he won't come cause he'd have to wake his butt up early. He gives me all this advice, talks sweetly and wishes me luck and all the while I wanna chuck him in a pool of salmon juice (random but true). So then, he tells me he wants to see me after. WHAT?! I tell him I'll be busy. Grrr. I'm hurt and angry and I can't understand his choice. We've been together half a year...he always shows that he cares so much about me, always coming to my rescue or soothing me down when sad... But this stings a lot. Is there something I'm missing? Am I overreacting? Why am I entertaining thoughts of ditching him for a week?

Perhaps he's nervous because your family will be at this event (assuming he's never met them before, it may be really weird for him to come).

Just speak with him candidly and see whats up. Can't hurt to ask?
