A reader, anonymous, writes (10 January 2011):

Being labeled as someone's "second conscience" (or consciousness) would be a red flag to me...especially if you aren't in a formal relationship.

Either way, he feels like a different sort of person when he's with you. In a way I guess that's flattering, who doesn't when they are in love, but I would wonder if I wasn't just some sort of fantasy escape for him to feel better about him self.

...or if in fact he has a "first conscience" elsewhere he's trying to avoid or can't commit to.

A male reader, Odds United States +, writes (10 January 2011):

Odds agony auntYou sure he didn't say "Conscience?"

If so, he thinks of you as a good person who inspires him to be a better man.

That, or he meant "Consciousness," meaning you do his thinking for him. I think the first is more likely.

If you've had sex, you haven't taken things slow. Talk to him about being exclusive. That's the only way to know if you've wasted your time.
