He said "Hey" to me and asked how was I doing..so is he interested?

ok so every morning on my way to class i pass this guy on the sidewalk. at first we just smiled at each other and made eye contact but last week i worked up the courage to say hi. the next time i saw him, he said hey to me and asked how i was doing. is he interested? and if he is how do i get him to ask me out? im really confused about this so any help would be appreciated.
